Mecalac 714MW Wheeled Multi-Purpose Excavator
Presented here is the exclusive 1:50th scale Mecalac 714MW wheeled excavator in the SRBG company decoration from Conrad. It is one of three models finished in the distinctive green colours of SRBG, part of the VINCI Group and joins the Actros 8x4 tipper and Sprinter van.

The body casting is very crisp with various engine cooling cutouts reproduced while the cabin is fully detailed including beacon and protective screen above the roof window. |

The model features a detailed undercarriage with all wheel steering, a moveable dozer blade and separate rear stabilisers which have pivoting pads. |
The model is supplied with three attachments, a digging bucket, a loading bucket and pallet forks. The quick hitch mechanism is faithfully reproduced just like the real machine and this works fairly well.
The boom is the most interesting part of the model. With the number of articulation points, it is able to perform a multitude of tasks where more than one machine would otherwise be needed. The range of movement has been faithfully replicated and all the hydraulic cylinders are stiff, so the model will hold any pose intended.
With pallet forks fitted, the machine is able to reach a respectable height, allowing it to be used on building sites for material transfer duties. In excavator mode, it can dig trenches like any other excavator or backhoe loader while with a front facing bucket, the machine can be used as a loading shovel, the 360 degree rotating of the upper works making it excellent in tight spaces.
The paint finish is very good throughout, as is expected from Conrad with crisply applied SRBG decoration including white highlighting of the rear Mecalac name.
