Manitou MT625T Telehandler

Presented here is the 1:32nd scale Manitou MT625T telehandler from Universal Hobbies. This is an interesting addition to the UH model range and the first Manitou model that they have produced and accompanies the upgraded Manitou MT625-75H which is also available.

As expected from Universal Hobbies, the visual details are very impressive with plenty of details throughout. The rear of the model has steering wheels which are accurately moulded with a deep tread pattern and nicely defined wheel hubs. The rear wheels also have a plastic guard fitted to the axle which pivots with the steering. A driveshaft links the front and rear axles and the steering linkages on both axles are scaled well and look the part.

The cabin has a front screen grill with two work lights integrated into the roof with a roof window, complete with wiper blade and an amber beacon which has a coiled cable for added realism. The cab door is hinged and can be opened to reveal the accurately replicated interior which houses the contoured seat, foot pedals, contoured body paneling with steering console where the steering wheel is fixed which actually rotates as the front wheels are turned which is a nice feature. The side panel houses hand controls and guages while the cab frame has integrated grab rails and rear view mirror.

The boom raises and has a single stage telescoping section which is stiff enough to remain in position at any extension. Unfortunately, the main lift hydraulic is a little slack so the boom does not remain in position, especially when fully extended. This version of the model is fitted with pallet forks which are screwed in place although the forks themselves are fixed in position so it is not possible to adjust the pitch.

The paint finish is very good with crisp and accurate printing of the Manitou markings. The model is equally at home in a construction or farming scene and is pictured below alongside the MT625-75H which is kitted out in an agricultural specification.
