MAN TGX with Nooteboom 3XL Teletrailer

Presented here is the 1:50th scale MAN TGX 6x2 tractor with Nooteboom 3XL extending teletrailer in the Schmallenbach company decoration from Conrad. The MAN TGX features a tilting cab that reveals the engine block at the heart of the chassis with a replicated interior which is visible through the large front windscreen.

A plastic sun visor is fitted above the window with two amber beacons mounted to the roof with chromed air horns on the upper side of the cab. Self-fit aerials need to be fitted into the holes in the cab roof which also houses a small plastic roof panel.

The rear view mirrors need fitting and incorporate an angled lense which provides visibility in front of the cab which has been cleverly modelled.

The front bumper has integrated driving lights with clear plastic lenses along with a textured plastic grill which is visible through the open areas of the body panels. The plastic wheel guards have some nice fixing detailing with integrated brake, reversing and indicator light clusters and simulated rubber mud guards, complete with printed MAN logo and the fifth wheel mounted to the chassis frame pivots.

The underside of the MAN TGX is rather basic with the front and rear tag axle having functional linked steering which is a nice change and achieves a reasonable range of movement. The rear axle has simulated suspention detailing and all wheel hubs have great detailing are fitted with accurately moulded rubber tyres.

The Nooteboom 3XL trailer has some nice touches including the slide out wide load safety boards which have a red & white chevron pattern.

Small metal posts are supplied with the model and insert into the holes in the trailer deck as required and an access ladde is integrated into the side of the trailer

The telescoping trailer frame has been constructed well with stiff movement ensuring the trailer can be posed in any configuration. The front stabilisers are hinged, allowing them to be folded up once the trailer is connected to the prime mover.

The four axles are mounted to pivoting arms with the rear-most axle tensioned. The twin tyres fitted to each axle have a crisp tread pattern moulded into the surface with plastic wheel covers placed over the wheels, complete with the Nooteboom logo printed on each one.

Each of the axles are steerable with a proportional linkage mechanism simulating the steering system found on the full sized trailer which is good engineering from Conrad. The front panel of the trailer offers protection to the tractor unit and can be removed from the model if required while the simulated textured board panels on the trailer bed look very realistic.
