MAN TGS M 8x4 with Palfinger PK53002-SH Knuckle Boom CranePresented here is the 1:50th scale MAN TGS M 4-axle truck with Palfinger PK53002-SH knuckle boom crane which has been produced exclusively for MAN. Unlike most of the other truck / crane combinations, this version has a fixed rear loading body with high sides which have panel detailing and raised hinge detailing along the lower edges. The cab has been nicely captured with crisp body panel detailing and roof mounted amber beacons with a centrally located hole for the radio aerial to be fitted. The front surfaces of the mirror housings have been painted to match the body colour, helping them to blend in with the cab colour while reflective silver mirrors have been added to the inner surface. The lower body panel has integrated lights with clear clazed lenses and amber tips with circular indents simulating the fixings. Silver steps have been added on both sides of the cab with the lower step integrated into the chassis frame. The front axles have linked steering with a good amount of steering movement while a replicated drivetrain is added to the rear axles which float within the suspension frame. The tilting cab reveals the engine block at the heart of the chassis with a chromed exhaust stack rising up behind the cab. The rear of the chassis has single-stage extending outriggers with screw down pads with plastic wheel chocks and a pintle hitch also fitted to the chassis frame. The rear bumper has painted reversing, brake and indicator lights with plastic wheel guards fitted over the rear wheels and an amber beacon located below the rear body.
Great touches on the crane include the fixed and winch mounted hooks that can be connected to the three outermost boom sections. The heavy weight and feel of the model is typically Conrad with accurate and smooth movement of the boom hydraulics and a good paint finish with accurate printing of the Palfinger crane details. The model is packed in the familiar foam lined cardboard wrap with blue printed outer cardboard box. |
