MAN TGS 4x2 with Schmitz Cargobull Tipping Trailer

Presented here is the exclusive edition 1:50th scale MAN TGS 2-axle tractor with 3-axle Schmitz Cargobull tipping trailer from Conrad which is decorated in the Eurovia company colors.

The Cargobull trailer has an integrated access platform rising up at the front of the frame which is made from plastic with safety railings and a folding access ladder with good structural frame detailing

The dump body can tip to a very reasonable angle and the multi-stage hydraulic cylinder operates smoothly while maintaining enough friction to allow the body to remain raised without dropping down (as pictured below).

The simple frame structure of the trailer houses three axles which are mounted to pivoting arms allowing some suspension simulation. The single tyres have a defined radial tread pattern moulded into the surfaces with silver hubs and black centres while plastic wheel covers are fixed to the frame above each wheel.

The side surfaces of the dump body have ridges cast into them which are subtle with the Eurovia red and blue stripes printed across the lower section of the body sides while the Eurovia name and logo is prominently displayed.

A pair of stabilisers are located just in front of the wheels and they can be extended to support the trailer weight when it is not connected to the tractor unit. The rear of the trailer has a safety bar integrated into the frame end with painted rear facing light housings and the Eurovia logo printed on the pivoting tailgate.

The model is supplied with a MAN TGS 4x2 tractor which is also painted in the white Eurovia colours with the blue and red stripes wrapping around the cabin and the Eurovia name and logo positioned on the cab doors and across the front of the cabin below the windscreen.

Rear view mirrors and a plastic radio aerial are supplied and need fitting into the holes in the cab frame and roof. The underside of the truck features a mock up of the suspension frame with a floating rear axle which is connected to the gearbox by a plastic drive shaft with a fuel tank and spare wheel fixed to the chassis along with the air bottles and silencer box. The pivoting fifth-wheel plate can accommodate any of the trailers produced by Conrad which allows for some interesting combinations.

The front axle has an excellent range of steering movement and the tyres have an authentic tread pattern moulded into the surfaces with silver wheel hubs and black centres, matching the wheels on the trailer. The Schmitz Cargobull trailer is also available with a Mercedes Actros MP03 4x2 Tractor (Pictured below)

There is a slight difference in the paint finish between the models produced by Conrad and those produced by NZG which is a little curious considering they should by based on the same colour codes. As typical of Conrad models, the paint finish is exceptional with crisp printing of the Eurovia branding throughout the model

The truck makes a good companion for the Liebherr L586, seen above performing loading duties while below, the model is pictured alongside the Actros MP03 version and the MAN TGS with Doll trailer, all finished in the Eurovia colours.
