MAN 3-axle chassis with Roll On/Off Skip
Presented here is the 1:50th scale MAN 3-axle truck chassis with removable skip from Conrad.
The addition of the crane behind the cab is an interesting choice and this configuration is seldom seen in the UK with a removable skip body. The crane can be fully unfolded and has an extending boom section and is mounted to the chassis frame on top of a set of non-functional stabilisers.
The rear view mirrors are plastic and need fitting into the holes on the cab frame and are tight enough to not need any glue. The cab interior has been modelled and is visible through the clear front and side windows and the top of the cab has a plastic sun visor fitted. The front axle has an extremely good degree of turn allowing very tight steering and the tyres fitted to the wheel hubs have a realistic looking moulded tread pattern. The cab can be tilted forward to reveal the replicated engine block beneath

The removable skip is all metal with large, single piece side opening door and cast steps on the side panel. The chassis mounted hook loading mechanism is fully functional allowing the skip to be lifted and secured into position just like the real truck and this is a nice feature on the model. |
Once in place, a plastic locking clip keeps the skip in place on the chassis and lifting the main cylinders causes the skip to tip rather than dismount which is another nice touch on the model.
The paint finish on the model is excellent, as expected from Conrad and the black chassis with sky blue skip and cab contrast well. The model is supplied in a protective foam covered inner cardboard wrap with outer printed box.
