MAN DHAS 3-axle truck with 2-axle Meiller tipping trailer

Presented here is the 1:50th scale MAN DHAS 3-axle truck with 2-axle Meiller tipping trailer from Conrad. The model is supplied in a foam lined cardboard inner with outer printed box and the wing mirrors and front fender rods are supplied loose in the box and need fitting to the model.

The lift up opening bonnet reveals a replicated engine block and radiator beneath and the bonnet remains in the raised position on it's own without falling down which is a nice touch. The front bumper has integrated lights with clear plastic lenses whilst the indicator lights are painted on the opening bonnet.

The front axle has working steering which achieves a good degree of turn and the rubber tyres fitted to the plastic wheel hubs have an authentic moulded tread pattern. The rear axles float within the replicated suspension arms giving a little oscilation and the drivetrain is replicated from the engine block through the distribution gearbox to both front and rear axles with fuel and air tanks mounted to the chassis along with a silver exhaust.

The silver guards above the rear wheels have an authentic diamond plate texture with a pivoting fifth wheel coupling mounted to the chassis and light housings with painted brake, reversing and indicator lenses integrated into the rear chassis frame.

The Meiller tipping trailer is based on a two axle trailer chassis with folding stabilisers fitted into the frame with the two axles mounted to a pivoting suspension bar allowing a little movement. The metal wheel guards have integrated light bars with painted lenses and the rubber tyres have an authentic tread pattern.

The rear doors fitted to the trailer body operate in two stages, with a lower pivoting section folding down to release the movement of the upper tailgage which pivots as the body raises.

The multi-stage hydraulic piston has been nicely constructed and is stiff enough to allow the body to be positioned at any angle chosen.

The trailer body has ridged structural detailing along the outer sides with the simulated tailgate release mechanism cast into the surface for a little added realism and has an annodized silver finish. The model is another good addition to the bonnetted MAN truck range.
