MAN DHAS 26.240 3-axle truck with 2-axle Low Loader
Presented here is the 1:50th scale MAN DHAS 26.240 3-axle truck with 2-axle low loader from Conrad. The model is supplied in a foam lined cardboard inner with outer printed box and the wing mirrors and front fender rods are supplied loose in the box and need fitting to the model.
The front axle has working steering which achieves a good degree of turn and the rubber tyres fitted to the plastic wheel hubs have an authentic moulded tread pattern. The rear axles float within the replicated suspension arms giving a little oscilation and the drivetrain is replicated from the engine block through the distribution gearbox to both front and rear axles with fuel and air tanks mounted to the chassis along with a silver exhaust.
The lift up opening bonnet reveals a replicated engine block and radiator beneath and the bonnet remains in the raised position on it's own without falling down which is a nice touch. The front bumper has integrated lights with clear plastic lenses whilst the indicator lights are painted on the opening bonnet The red finished grill gives the model a very imposing look with safety chevrons printed on the lower edges of the bonnet and Schmidbauer logos printed on the doors.

The trailer features fold over ramps on the rear which have a three stage folding linkage with integrated stabilisation bars which contact the ground, preventing the ramps from bending as the load is driven onto the upper deck
The twin axles are fitted with red plastic hubs and rubber tyres that have an accurate tread pattern moulded into the surface. The plastic stabilisers at the front of the trailer are single piece mouldings so the wheels do not rotate, although they do fold up under the trailer deck when the trailer is connected to the tractor. |

The deck has ridges running across the entire length and is composed of a single piece casting with integrated raised neck where the fifth wheel kingpin is positioned. |

This is another interesting release from Conrad and clearly demonstrates the simple and effective construction of equipment from years ago. The model looks very impressive with a suitable load, in this case, the Poclain TY45 tracked excavator or as pictured below, the MAN DHAK 3-axle tipper which makes an ideal combination.
The previously released 3-axle DHAK dump truck received some complaints about the shape of the front grill and upper part of the cab and Conrad have listened to the feedback and done some retooling in these areas to produce a much more authentic and realistic looking appearance that die-hard fans of the historic MAN bonnetted truck should be happy with. These differences are clearly visible in the picture below.
