1:50th Scale Liebherr LTR1100 Tracked Telescopic Crane
"Felbermayr"

Liebherr LTR1100

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Liebherr LTR1100 telescopic crawler crane from Conrad in the distinctive blue Felbermayr decoration. The model is fully configurable with a number of parts supplied in the box. The undercarriage has extending track frames with highly detailed individually linked metal tracks. The idler wheels are sprung loaded to keep the tracks tensioned while the drive sprockets have the Liebherr name cast into the hubs.

What is great about this model is that the track frames can be removed from the supports for transport purposes, just like the real machine which is a great touch. Two diamond plate access steps are fitted to the outside of each track frame and the frames click into place on the main support struts.

The four hydraulic jacks are separate and need fixing to the undercarriage with the supplied plastic pins. Once connected, the two undercarriage counterweights can be located onto the pin heads and the screw threaded pads can be lowered to raise the tracks off the ground.

There are six counterweights that fit to the rear of the body, with a fully functioning mechanism to lift the counterweights into position from the ground.

Four chains are supplied which fit to the lifting cylinders while the two large and four small counterweights fit into position. More plastic pins are used to secure the couterweights in the raised position and the second winch is also connected with four small pins.

Both winch drums are pre wound with black rope and have a square hole in the ends to aid in winding although there is no winder supplied in the box. You can also use your thumb to rotate the drums as they have a toothed edge to aid grip.

The cab is fixed to a tilting mechanism which allows about 25 degrees of movement. The operator station is finely detailed with seat, joystick controls and control panel all visible through the clear windows while a diamond plate platform is fitted to the base of the cab and grab rails are fitted to the cab frame..

The six section telescoping boom is all metal with a large single hydraulic cylinder which is stiff enough to hold the boom in the raised position.

Side mounted plastic holders need to be fitted to the boom to hold the separate jib which connects to the boom head using two long plastic pins.

Two different hooks are provided in the box, one with a single hook and one with a double sided hook.

This is another superb model from Conrad with a host of details and a heavy, well constructed feel. The fully functioning undercarriage and rear counterweight system is excellent and really adds to the model. The paint finish is first rate and the Felbermayr markings are crisp and clear.
