Liebherr R984C Tracked Excavator

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Liebherr R984C tracked excavator in the Kibag company livery from Conrad. The model has been produced exclusively for Heavy Transport Models, a German based company specialising in commissioning limited run releases in various company decorations.

The Liebherr R984C is a well constructed model with plenty of detail, including the side mounted service walkways and extended platform outside the cabin with accurately scaled metal safety railings and a metal access step. The cabin has a replicated interior with a roof mounted protection screen.

The Kibag colours of blue and light grey really give the model a new appeal with crisp printing of the KIBAG logos on the body sides and rear counterweight. All grab handles have been painted light grey along with several small covers and this contrasts well with the blue main colour.

The model includes a quick coupler connected to the stick with both a ripper tooth and rock bucket supplied in the box. This addition really adds to the model and allows different posing possibilities. The bucket has very nicely defined teeth with wear detailing on the underside while the ripper tooth has accurate detailing of the shank. Interestingly, a metal pin is supplied to lock the attachment in place where as on the original Liebherr coloured version, a plastic pin was supplied.

The Heavy Transport Models outfit have commissioned a number of models that are exclusive, including the Liebherr R954C and two different trucks with tipping trailers, all finished in the KIBAG company decoration. It will be interesting to see what other KIBAG models make an appearance over the coming months.
