Liebherr R954C Tracked Excavator
Presented here is the limited edition 1:50th scale Liebherr R954C tracked excavator decorated in a red paint colour with liebherr markings, produced by Conrad and exclusive to Heavy Transport Models. This is an interesting addition to the growing range of models from HTM, especially since it has a sorting grapple fitted instead of the standard bucket. The grapple was originally supplied by Conrad in the limited edition release of the R954BV demolition model where it fitted onto the end of the demolition boom.
The cab has accurately scaled grab rails leading up the front edge of the frame with a plastic moulding for the interior, complete with seat and hand controls. The clear glazing has black printed seals simulating the rubber seals of the full sized machine for a little extra realism.

The body casting has been very well done and includes grill detailing and grab rails integrated into the upper edge of the engine bay. The undercarriage has nicely formed linked metal tracks which are tensioned allowing them to remain taut while still rotating smoothly. |

As with most Conrad models, there is a fair bit of weight in the model with solid engineering and a realistic range of movement of the boom, stick and grapple. All the hydraulic cylinders have a smooth operation and are stiff enough to hold any given pose.

The sorting grapple is a great addition and it has been produced with a fully functioning internal mechanism and twin hydraulic cylinders.

The shaped internal bar ensures that, as the hydraulics are operated, both sides of the grapple close together in unison and this works very well on the model. The saddle has been produced to allow 360 degree rotation of the main grapple body |
The finish of the model is good throughout with an even coating allowing the casting detail to show. The standard liebherr markings are very crisp with the Liebherr name printed on the boom sides and rear counterweight. The model is supplied in the usual foam lined inner wrap with printed cardboard box and is limited to only 200 pieces.
