Liebherr R954C Tracked Excavator
Presented here is the limited edition 1:50th scale Liebherr R954C tracked excavator which is produced by Conrad exclusively for Heavy Transport Models and decorated in the Pongers demolition company decoration.
The undercarriage has nicely formed linked metal tracks which are tensioned allowing them to remain taut while still rotating smoothly. The model is supplied with a quick couler and two different demolition attachments consisting of a concrete pulverizer and sorting grapple.
The cab has an accurately scaled grab rail leading up the front edge of the frame with a plastic moulding for the interior, complete with seat and hand controls. The slightly tinted glazing has black printed seals simulating the rubber seals of the full sized machine for a little extra realism while a cab guard has been fitted for added protection.

As with most Conrad models, there is a fair bit of weight in the model with solid engineering and a realistic range of movement of the boom, stick and bucket. All the hydraulic cylinders have a smooth operation and are stiff enough to hold any given pose. The concrete pulverizer (pictured right) has good surface detailing and again offers 360 degree rotation and functional jaws with authentic cast teeth. The body casting has been very well done and includes grill detailing and grab rails integrated into the upper edge of the engine bay. Nice touches on the model include the highlighted door catches on the engine panels and satin black printing of the anti-slip panels on the upper service areas. |

The finish of the model is good throughout with an even paint coating allowing the casting detail to show with excellent colour matching of the plastic hydraulic cylinders. The model is supplied in the usual foam lined inner wrap with printed outer cardboard box.
The JGXR50 Xcentric Ripper attachment from Gaz Evans has been designed to fit 50+ ton excavators and will connect directly to the coupler fitted to the Pongers version of the R954C, as pictured below, to offer an alternative posing option on the shelf.
