Liebherr R954C Tracked Excavator
Presented here is the exclusive edition 1:50th scale Liebherr R954C tracked excavator in the colours of Cardem, a member of the VINCI Group. The model has been produced by Conrad and has some small differences over the standard Liebherr decorated version of the model.
As with most Conrad models, there is a fair bit of weight in the model with solid engineering and a realistic range of movement of the boom, stick and bucket. The body casting has been very well done and includes grill detailing and grab rails integrated into the upper edge of the engine bay.

The cab has accurately scaled grab rails leading up the front edge of the frame with a plastic moulding for the interior, complete with seat and hand controls. The clear glazing has black printed seals simulating the rubber seals of the full sized machine for a little extra realism and on this version, an all-in-one front and roof window cage has been added for more realism. |

The undercarriage has nicely formed linked metal tracks which are tensioned allowing them to remain taut while still rotating smoothly. The track pads are narrower on this version to the standard R954C and actually make the model look more interesting.
The bucket is nicely done and has plenty of detail, including wear protection and realistic teeth. This bucket is much beefier than the previous R954B models and really helps to make the model look even better. It is a little surprising that the model is not supplied with demolition attachments rather than the bucket although this could be produced at a later date.
The finish of the model is very good throughout with authentically applied Cardem decoration along with additional small safety labels and fleet number. the model looks great alongside the Liebherr R954BV demolition machine, as pictured below.
