Liebherr R954C Tracked Excavator
Presented here is the limited edition 1:50th scale Liebherr R954C tracked excavator which is produced by Conrad exclusively for Heavy Transport Models and decorated in a light green colour. First announced at the Bauma 2013 exhibition, two versions were done, one very limited 50 piece edition with the Bauma 2013 printing, and the other with standard Liebherr markings
The cab has an accurately scaled grab rail leading up the front edge of the frame with a plastic moulding for the interior, complete with seat and hand controls. The clear glazing has black printed seals simulating the rubber seals of the full sized machine for a little extra realism while a black cab guard has been fitted for added protection.
The undercarriage has nicely formed linked metal tracks which are tensioned allowing them to remain taut while still rotating smoothly. The model is supplied with a quick couler and three different demolition attachments consisting of concrete shear, concrete pulverizer and sorting grapple.

As with most Conrad models, there is a fair bit of weight in the model with solid engineering and a realistic range of movement of the boom, stick and bucket. All the hydraulic cylinders have a smooth operation and are stiff enough to hold any given pose.

The concrete shear (pictured above) features opening jaws with 360 degree rotation of the body and was first introduced on the Liebherr R954B V demolition excavator. The concrete pulverizer (pictured right) has good surface detailing and again offers 360 degree rotation and functional jaws with authentic cast teeth. |
The body casting has been very well done and includes grill detailing and grab rails integrated into the upper edge of the engine bay. Nice touches on the model include the highlighted door catches on the engine panels and satin black printing of the anti-slip panels on the upper service areas.
The finish of the model is good throughout with an even paint coating allowing the casting detail to show with excellent colour matching of the plastic hydraulic cylinders. The model is supplied in the usual foam lined inner wrap with printed outer cardboard box.
