Liebherr R9350 Tracked Face Shovel

Liebherr R9350

Presented here is the Liebherr R9350 tracked face shovel model in 1:50th scale from NZG. This is an update to the previously released R994B shovel with a new shape counterweight and upper deck differences.

When it comes to detail on a model, few are as highly detailed as the R9350 which demonstrates very high levels of engineering throughout, from the hydraulic distribution system present on the model with flexible pipework added bewteen the body and main boom down to the panel on the underside of the rear body which houses the fuel and hydraulic fluid refuelling system which can be lowered revealing the hose connections.

The rear counterweight is a different shape to the original R994B with a more curved profile and the new 9350 designation across the cantre. The upper deck fire suppressant tanks have also changed in orientation from the original version. The picture below shows the amazing level of detail that has been added to the cab including sun screens, mirrors, full hand railing, roof mounted beacons and light clusters and even the addition of an air horn.

The rear deck of the model is highly detailed with reproduced fire suppressent equipment and fully reproduced walkways and accurately scaled metal safety railing. The access ladder as the rear of the body can be rotated from the raised to lowered position just like the real machine.

The boom and stick have hydraulic pipe detailing cast into the upper surface with flexible hoses fitted to the cylinders all adding to the realistic appearance of the model. The boom, stick and shovel are fully functional with a realistic range of movement allowing the model to be authentically posed.

The undercarriage is supperb, with sprung loaded idler wheels and individually linked metal tracks. This is another example of the detail that can be achieved on 1:50th scale models and spare track links are supplied in the box which is another nice touch.

The paint finish on the model is very good with accurate markings. NZG have, in my opinion, raised the bar another notch in producing a must have model. This is a great companion to the R9350 backhoe which was released previously and it is good to see Liebherr update the models to reflect changes to the full sized machines.
