Liebherr R916 Advance Tracked Excavator
Presented here is the limited edition 1:50th scale Liebherr R916 Advance tracked excavator from NZG in the Kibag Group company decoration. The undercarriage frame has highly detailed drive wheels with integrated access steps with a ridged top edge cast into the frames. The individually linked track pads have grouser and bolt detailing on each pad and link together using tension which keeps them taut, although they do rotate when turned by hand.
The new styling of the generation 6 machines is a stunning change from the older design with curved body and shaped cooling grills set off by the interesting contours and grills on the side with a clever paint finish simulating the fine grill mesh found on the full sized machine.

Grab rails and steps have been added to the main frame allowing access to the top of the engine compartment. Even the anti slip surface has been simulated which is another great touch.

The compartment doors on the body sides have inset handles highlighted with black paint while the rear counterweight has red painted embossed areas with a grey line travelling all round the machine. |
The cab interior has been accurately reproduced with controls and drivers seat all visible through the large windows. The new design cab gives a greater view for the operator and has accurately scaled grab rails and rear view mirrors fitted to the frame. Even the rubber window seals have been simulated using black printing and the Kibag name and logos are located on the body sides.
The range of movement of the boom,stick and bucket simulate the movement of the full sized machine very well, with a working quick coupler with integrated lifting hooks allowing the general purpose digging bucket to be removed. Flexible piping has been added for extra realism and this works well.
The paint finish is very good with the casting details showing through the even paint coat, while the printing of the Kibag details on the boom and counterweight are flawless. This is another great release from NZG with only 300 pieces produced, packed in a two piece polystyrene carton with printed outer box. It is pictured below alongside the Voegele Super 1900-2 tracked paver in the same company colours.
