Presented here is the 1:50th scale Liebherr R9100 tracked excavator in backhoe configuration which has been produced by Conrad. The Liebherr R9100 is the smallest machine in the mining range of hydraulic excavators, weighing in at 110 ton in backhoe configuration and 115 ton as a front shovel with a Liebherr D9512 12-cylinder diesel power plant generating 757hp. Bucket capacities range from 2.9 to 7.7 cubic metres for the backhoe while the shovel capacity is up to 8.7 cubic metre.

The 1:50th scale replica from Conrad has some rather interesting details not usually found on a Conrad model while the weight of the model and precision engineering are still trademarks from this prestigious company.

The side grill detailing has been engineered well with openings allowing a glimpse within with authentic grey stripe printing matching that of the original machine.

The rear counterweight accurately captures the contours of the full sized machine with added red safety markings depicting an update to the original release

Silver housings have been added to the rear counterweight and side panel to simulate the safety cameras which is a nice touch.

The photo-etched side access walkways are particularly well executed with a sliding access ladder and accurately scaled metal safety railings with additional walkways found within the service area of the upper structure where the main hydraulic distribution block is located

The tinted cabin gives the machine a futuristic look while the internal seat and controls are just about visible within. As a mining machine, it is a shame that Conrad did not model the protective guards which would have looked better in my opinion as the tinted glazing is maybe a little too dark.

The undercarriage frame has simulated bottom rollers with linked metal tracks tensioned by a sprung idler wheel and detailed drive wheel which has the Liebherr name cast onto the final drive housing. The tracks rotate smoothly and have double grouser shoes.

The hydraulic hoses are raised from the back of the boom and add to the realistic appearance while flexible hoses are fitted to the hydraulic cylinders which also have integrated pipe work, another nice touch from Conrad.

The model accurately captures the range of movement of the full sized machine and the digging bucket has some very intricate tooth and wear plate detailing which are cast well and really  enhance the model's rugged appearance.

The paint finish is to Conrads usual high standard with crisp printing of the Liebherr markings and machine designation.
