1:50th Scale Liebherr LTM1200-5.1 Mobile Crane

This is the new Liebherr LTM1200-5.1 model in 1:50th scale from Conrad. The model is an excellent replica with nicely detailed features. The  undercarriage has 5 axles with freely rotating wheels. The steering is functional while the two stage stabilisers can be extended and lowered.

The 7 piece boom has six telescoping sections whick lock into position when fully extended. The luffing jib is comprised of four sections and allows three angle adjustments. The luffing jib, minus the extensions, can be stored on the side of the main boom for travelling.

The rear of the model features a new way of connecting the counterweights. The counterweights are separate and consist of five main sections with two side mounted extension wieghts. The mechanism to fit the counterwieght to the upper structure on my model is out by some way, so the pins do not line up with the shaped lugs. This is a shame, as it looks like a casting error. The plastic pins are also likely to snap if forced.

The main superstructure has some nice details, including cut out cooling grills and adjustable cab. Overall, this is a nice model and a good addition to the Liebherr mobile crane model fleet. The yellow colour is a little lighter that the other mobile cranes that have been released by Conrad.

A nice touch on the model is the functional walkways at the rear of the upper structure, which can actually be folded down when in transport mode
