1:50th Scale Komatsu WB97S Backhoe Loader
Presented here is the 1:50th scale Komatsu WB97S backhoe loader from Universal Hobbies.

The model has freely rotating, equal sized wheels with authentic rubber tyres and working 4 wheel steering although the range of movement on the steering is very limited and the tyres soon rub against the bodywork. The underside of the model features a replicated drivetrain to the front and rear axles and this is a nice addition on the model.

The cab interior features an extremely accurate reproduction of the real machine with all the controls for both front loader and rear backhoe clearly visible through the clear windows. Rear view mirrors have been added to both sides of the cab with grab rails added to the cab frame.
The front bucket has a very accurate range of movement, as do the loader arms and all are finished off with flexible hydraulic hose detailing.

The 4-in-1 bucket is functional and has detailed teeth on the cutting edge whilst the backhoe can also be fully positioned and has a working extending stick with standard toothed digging bucket. |
The stabilisers can be lowered and the pads oscilate to give a good footing on uneven ground just like the full sized machine. |

The boom king post can be traversed to each side of the model and both flexible and fixed hydraulic piping has been added, including the auxiliary circuit.
The paint finish is very good on the model and the main components appear to be made of metal although as with a number of Universal Hobbies models, there is a large amount of plastic used.
