1:50th Scale Komatsu WA70 Wheeled Loader

This is the new 1:50th scale Komatsu WA70 wheeled loader from Universal Hobbies. The model has freely rotating wheels with authentic rubber tyres and working articulated steering, although the range of movement is very limited on the model I have reviewed here. The rear of the model has a well defined cooling grill and rear tow hook with rear facing indicator and brake lights along with authentically printed side cooling grills and accurate Komatsu markings throughout.

The cab interior features an extremely accurate reproduction of the real machine with all the controls clearly visible through the clear windows. Rear view mirrors have been added to both sides of the cab with grab rails added to the side with full size door.

The front bucket has a very accurate range of movement, as do the loader arms and all are finished off with flexible hydraulic hose detailing. Even the front facing light clusters have electrical cables visible which is another great touch and adds to the the realism of the model.

The paint finish is very good with all warning and safety markings added. The main components of the model appear to be made of metal and this is another highly detailed model to add to the Komatsu model fleet. The latest releases from Universal Hobbies show just what can be done in terms of realism and these latest models cannot be faulted for the level of detail. Everything is there, right down to the bolt heads of the front wheel guards, the air vents visible on the dashboard and the hydraulic check valves on the hydraulics. The only dissapointment is the continued use of screws to assemble the model.
