1:50th Scale Komatsu WA470 Wheeled Loader
This is the new 1:50th scale Komatsu WA470 wheeled loader from Universal Hobbies. The model has freely rotating wheels with authentic rubber tyres, detailed wheel hubs and working articulated steering complete with working cylinders. The bucket on the model is rather large with tooth and edge wear protection detail clearly visible.

The rear of the model features a large counterweight with rear facing light clusters on each side, complete with simulated brake, indicator and reversing lights. The rear cooling grill is finely detailed with side printed cooling grills and authentic Komatsu markings.

The cab is exceptionally well detailed with all the details of the real machine produced in miniature. Access grab rails have been added to both sides of the cab and access ladders are present on both sides. Yet again, Universal Hobbies have produced an exquisite model with a level of detail previously unheard of on a £40 model, however, all this is spoilt with the use of screws to assemble all the moving parts.

The wheel guards front and rear have detailed extension panels, complete with bolt detail and simulated anti slip walk panels added which give the model a much more realistic look. The front loader arms can be raised although the range of movement is not as much as I would have expected. The Z bar bucket linkage does have a greater degree of movement and hydraulic hose detailing has been added to the lift and tip cylinders.

The paint finish is very good with all warning and safety markings added throughout the model. While a mixture of metal and plastic has been used on the model, it is hard to see which parts are which. This is another very welcomed addition to the Komatsu model fleet and is one of the most detailed models available for a price range of around £40.
