Presented here is the 1:50th scale Komatsu PC88 tracked excavator from Universal Hobbies.

The boom and stick have a good range of movement with a number of flexible hydraulic lines fitted including a set of check valves for auxiliary equipment. The boom also has work lights fitted with silver painted lenses and the pins used to connect the boom, stick and bucket have been painted to give a realistic appearance. |
The tracked undercarriage features linked metal track segments with grouser and bolt detailing visible along with a dozer blade which can be raised a little. |

The boom is mounted to the upper body with an adjustable king post which allows the boom to be offset by about 45 degrees to each side of the body. Accurately scaled plastic handrails are fitted to the body panels and the panels themselves have cast opening catch detailing.

The rear of the model has a cast grill texture with painted grill detailing and indents where plastic light lenses are fitted. |
The cab interior has been meticulously replicated with all the controls visible through the large front windscreen which has wipers fitted. The cab frame has grab rails, front facing work lights and roof mounted aerial and there is even a roof mounted mirror allowing a good view of the rear of the body, just like the full sized machine.
The paint finish is very good on the model and the main components appear to be made of metal although as with a number of Universal Hobbies models, there is a large amount of plastic used.
