Komatsu PC490LC-10 Tracked Excavator
Presented here is the 1:50th scale Komatsu PC490LC-10 tracked excavator which has been produced by Universal Hobbies.
The PC490LC-10 keeps up the UH philosophy of packing immense levels of detail and realism into the replica as the model is fully loaded with fine detailing, from the hydraulic package with all the various connectors and check valves highlighted to the very nicely cast cabin interior and rear engine housing which has good surface engraving of the cooling slots and grills.
All the hand and foot controls are visible inside the new shaped cabin along with the hydraulic cut-off handle and operator's seat which has the Komatsu name printed across the seat. External detailing of the cabin is to a high standard with windscreen wipers, grab rails, rear view mirror, an access step and engraved handle, not forgetting the roof mounted floodlights, amber beacon and roof window.

Unlike some of their earlier models, there is more metal used in the construction and this gives the model a more convincing feel while the movement of the boom, stick and bucket linkage are close to capturing the complete range found on the full sized machine.
The stick is fitted with a quick coupler device allowing the digging bucket to be removed and this is held in place with small screws, as is the coupler itself which can also easily be detached to allow other aftermarket attachments to be fitted. |

The upper surface of the engine compartment shows all the small anti-slip mats and engraved bolt details which really give the model a realistic appearance. The crawler undercarriage is constructed of individual linked pads which are tensioned and rotate smoothly with lower roller detailing cast into the track frames along with access steps and tiny printed markings.
This is certainly a welcome addition to the Komatsu model fleet with a good paint finish and crisply applied Komatsu logos and safety markings rounding off an impressive offering.
