Komatsu 830E Mining Truck

The Komatsu 830E AC electric drive off-road haul truck has a loaded capacity of 230 ton and is powered by a 2500hp Komatsu SDA16V160 diesel engine with a G.E. GTA-41 alternator providing the power to move the truck to a maximum speed of 40mph.

The 1:50th scale replica from First Gear has accurately captured the aggressive looks of this monster rock mover. The upper deck is fitted with electrical cabinets which have small printed safety labels while photo-etched mesh grills have been used for the cooling panels.

The large front radiator housing is protected by a mesh grill with an extending front frame providing access to the cabin with no fewer than 3 access ladders with metal safety railings running around the upper deck and simulated gates with integrated handles looking authentic.

The cabin features a replicated and painted interior highlighting the driver and secondary seating with access behind the cabin leading down to the chassis.

The inner workings of the 830E model have been done very well, with the engine block at the heart of the chassis surrounded by service platforms with safety railings and folding access steps on both sides.

The underside detailing is equally impressive with the hydraulically powered steering linkage fitted to the front axle and a mid mounted electrical generator and ridged coupling connecting the rear drive housing which has working suspension. Hydraulic fluid and diesel fuel tanks are affixed to the side of the chassis with an additional service and access ladder integrated into the hydraulic tank.

The body rises up to an impressive angle, displaying the underside structural detailing with small black mud guards and rock deflectors while a safety wire rope is included to secure the body in the raised position for servicing.
