Kobelco SK210LC-10 Tracked ExcavatorPresented here is a 1:50th scale model of the SK210LC-10 has been produced by Motorart and is available in three different decorations, yellow for the North American region, blue for Japan and Europe and there is also a silver Hybrid decorated version, each sharing the same tooling. In the past, Kobelco construction models have typically been in the larger 1:43rd scale so it is good to see a 1:50th scale replica released and rumour has it that further 1:50th scale models are in development for release in the next 2-3 years. Motorart have been hit and miss over the last 2-3 years with some nice models spoilt by poor assembly however that is not the case with the new SK210 which is actually finished to a high standard with some nice features. The undercarriage has individually linked track pads with the lower and upper roller detailing incorporated into the track frames. The final drive housings show the bolt detailing and the tracks rotate nicely. The upper body casting has engraved grills and indented panel handles with a rear view camera housing and lifting points modelled on the counterweight.
The boom, stick and bucket linkage have a good range of movement which is authentic to the original with raised plastic hydraulic pipes fitted to the boom and stick with silver grey coloured flexible hoses. The pins connecting the moving parts are not overly obtrusive with the exception of the bucket linkage, where painted heads would have enhanced the realism. The addition of an auxiliary hydraulic line is a nice touch and the pins securing the bucket are friction fit type, so can easily be removed and a different attachment fitted. The paint finish is of a high standard with an even coating, complimented with the printing of the Kobelco name and machine designation along with the graphics on both sides of the machine. Overall, the model is a fine addition with hopefully more 1:50th scale models to come in the future. Pictured below are the Hybrid versions of the model, with one designated SK200H and the other as SK210H. Both share the same tooling as the standard SK210 with a silver finish and different markings on the boom. |
