Kalmar DCE160 Heavy Duty Fork Lift
Presented here is the first release from MLB Models and is a great reproduction of the Kalmar DCE160 heavy duty fork lift truck. There are not many fork lift models in 1:50th scale and this is a very welcomed release.
The large forks are metal and slide across the frame so the pitch can be adjusted. This includes two hydraulic cylinders mounted inside the frame which extend to change the pitch and this is a nice touch on the model.
The main boom has two hydraulics connecting it to the chassis and there is a little amount of tilt movement. The forks can be raised up the main frame but the second stage section is not functional and this is probably the only area on the model where some collectors may be dissapointed.

The rear of the model has a very nicely cast counterweight with accurate Kalmar logo cast into the metal. The cutouts where the couterweight is bolted to the chassis are all present and the castings are nice and crisp. |
The cab features a fully replicated interior with detailed seat, complete with arm rest, operating levers and central console with painted dial and guage detailing with steering wheel positioned on top. The centre of the steering wheel has a tiny logo printed which shows the level of detail that has been achieved. The side mounted yellow grab rails are a particularly nice touch. |

MLB Models has the philosophy that a model should look exceptional without adding external details that can fall off or break. This is certainly evident with the Kalmar DCE160 as the casting and cab detailing are exceptional but there are not many fragine external parts which could become damaged.
The model has a very good paint finish with authentic placement of the Kalmar markings with safety warning markings added on the sides of the lift frame and above each wheel arch. This is a great first release and it will be interesting to see what the next release will be from MLB Models.
