Presented here is the latest release from Motorart, the 1:50th scale JCB JS220 tracked excavator with hammer. The main body casting is the same as the original JS220 model with updated linked metal tracks and a correct cab frame. The model is decorated in the new JCB corporate markings which do look good.

The picture below highlights the different corporate markings on the body and counterweight along with the better looking tracks.

The body casting detail consists of engine grills, panel handles, fuel outlet and raised walkway grip pattern. The plastic hand rails are well proportioned and look good.

The engine compartment is accessible by opening the top engine cover which is painted yellow on this version, revealing the moulded engine and associated components within.

The operators cab has been faithfully reproduced with lights, windscreen wipers and even an aerial mounted on the rear roof. Inside the cab, there are plenty of details including foot pedals, track movement levers and hydraulic cutoff lever. The seat even has the JCB logo printed on it which is a nice touch and the roof window has been added on this version which was blanked out on the original JS220 replica.

The hammer fitted to the stick is a basic casting with not much detail. It is a pity there are no printed JCB logos on the hammer as this would have added to the realism.

The boom and stick are fully enclosed and are assembled with the use of grip pins. The boom casting has hydraulic hose details moulded into it but there are no flexible hydraulic hoses on the model. The cylinders themselves are now coloured black and are stiff enough to be able to position the model as desired.

The paint finish of the model is very good with crisp tampo printing throughout. This is a cost effective way to produce another model which shows off the new corporate livery whilst also being a little bit different. It will be interesting to see if the other models also receive a face-lift during the year.
