JCB 8016 Mini Tracked Excavator

Presented here is the 1:25th scale JCB 8016 mini tracked excavator from Joal. As typical of Joal's marketing, the model is available in four different packages, one with each attachment and one which includes all three attachments in the same box (reviewed here)

Despite its size, there is some good detailing on the model with the single piece tubular boom and standard shaped stick having a good range of movement with a pivoting king post and functional bucket linkage which connects to a quick coupler allowing the three work tools to be connected. The three toothed bucket and hammer are typical attachments whereas the auger is a little different and almost looks a little too large.

The undercarriage has rubber band style tracks which have shaped pad detailing moulded into the surface with toothed drive wheels and a functional front blade. The bands are a little tight but will rotate and the upper structure smoothly rotates through 360 degrees.

The cabin interior has been captured and is visible through the large glazed windows. The seat and joystick controls have been highlighted, complete with the JCB logo printed onto the seat. The curved front screen extends up ove rthe roof where the metal frame has an integrated screen to protect the ocupant from falling debris while front facing work lights are integrated into the cab frame with good door handle detailing and safety grab rail.

The rear body casting captures the sleak curves of the machine with the grill ridges nicely engineered, complete with a printed JCB logo and safety labels for added realism. Two red circles are printed to simulate the reflectors on the full sized machine and the tip of the exhaust pipe integrated into the lower body has been highlighted.
