JCB 467 Wheel Loader

Presented here is the 1:50th scale JCB 467 wheel loader from motorart, the flagship loader in the JCB product line up. This is the latest JCB release from Motorart and is one of the best they have so far produced, with plenty of detailing and authenticity added to the replica.

The loader arms can raise to a reasonable height although it is a little lower than that of the full sized machine, but not as bad as some of their wheel loaders in the past. Attention to detail is very good with the ends of the lift rams painted to match the boom, while all moving joints are assembled with rivets that have painted heads.

The cabin detailing is done well, with a modelled interior highlighting the driver's seat and controls while the addition of a red fire extinguisher shows the attention to detail found on the model.

This extends to the exterior where the cab frame has accurately scaled metal grab rails integrated into the roof casting while front and rear facing lights have also been modelled, topped with an amber beacon on the roof.

The articulating chassis offers a realistic range of movement, powered by stiff hydraulics although there are no hoses or driveshaft fitted.

The access steps on both sides of the machine are done with photo-etched steps which have an anti-slip textured surface and tiny JCB emblems on each step, really adding to the level of realism. All the safety railings on the model are produced in metal which is a great improvement while finer detailing includes lifting eye brackets and fine service platforms integrated into the main castings.

The engine has been convincingly modelled and is visible by opening the side engine covers which are hinged. All the exhaust piping has been decorated with a mounted engine block, rear fitted radiator housing and cooling fan assembly all located within the engine bay.

The engine panels have a textured grille pattern on each side with crisp printing of the new JCB logos, while the rear grille panel and counterweight are accurately modelled.

The rear axle will oscillate, ensuring the model remains steady when placed on an uneven surface and the tyres have a good tread definition moulded into the surface with the wheel hubs highlighting the ring of fixing bolts.

The paint finish is of a very high standard and this is, in my opinion, one of the best 1:50th scale JCB models to date. It is clear that Motorart have taken the time to ensure that all the small details which make the model so realistic have been done well.
