JCB 456 ZX Wheel Loader

JCB 456ZX Wheel Loader

Presented here is the updated version of the 1:50th scale JCB 456ZX wheel loader from Motorart. The model is one of several to be updated with the latest JCB graphics, following from the JS220 and VM115. The castings are identical to the original release with only paint and printing changes observed.

The operators cab has been faithfully reproduced with roof mounted work lights, windscreen wipers and rear view mirrors with reflective surfaces added to the exterior. A warning beacon has been added to the rear of the roof and metal grab rails are found on the access ladders and cab doors.

The cab interior has plenty of detail including reproduced centre console with steering wheel and control levers. The two colour seat even has the JCB logo marked into the surface for completeness and shows the attention to detail that Motorart have gone to.

The rear of the model has a detailed radiator cooling grill and rear facing light clusters have been added into the counterweight along with a replicated towing hook. Both side engine panels, complete with cooling grill detail, can be opened to reveal the detailed engine block, cooling system, and exhaust pipework within. Unfortunately, on the review sample, the panels are loose fitting and will not remain open.

The access steps to the cab have an authentic anti slip surface while the top step on each side of the cab and rear wheel guards have metal plates with realistic chequerplate pattern embossed into them.

The wheels are freely rotating with realistic rubber tyres complete with authentic tread pattern and bolt heads are visible on the wheel hubs with the legendary JCB logo visible on the centre of each hub.

The loader arms are connected to a quick coupler which allows the three attachments to easily be connected. The standard bucket has a blade edge and high top edge to prevent material from falling over the top of the bucket. The individual forks will slide across the frame which connects to the boom to allow different widths to be set while the log grapple has working hydraulics to grip the log load.

Flexible hydraulic hoses have been added to the tipping cylinder and all pins used to connect the moving parts have been painted over which adds to the overall presentation. The paint finish of the model is of a very high standard and the markings are very crisp and help to make the model stand out. All the markings are accurately produced to the latest specifications and finish off the model well.

The updates bring the model to life and are, in my opinion, an improvement over the original release, both of which are pictured below to highlight the differences.
