International Harvester TD25 Tractor with Side Boom
This is the International TD25 Tracked pipelayer in 1:25th scale from First Gear. I started collecting the International range of 1:50th scale models and consider them to be excellent models for the price with loads of detail. The range of 1:25th scale International models from First Gear are supperb with tons of detail throughout the model. The pipe laying version of the TD25 has to be, in my opinion, the most detailed model in the range so far.
The individually linked metal tracks are supperbly detailed and are an exact replication of the real tracks. Everything looks perfectly scaled. The rear of the model features a detailed rope winch and towing bar with metal braided rope connected to the hook.
The detail provided in the operators cabin is awesome, including all the operator levers and foot pedals. There are faithfully reproduced dials on the console, complete with level markings, a fire extinguisher and even a tool box to finish the detail. All the operation details have been printed on the panels, including the direction control lever console which is just fantastic attention to detail on First Gear's part.

The levers and hydraulic pipework have been faithfully reproduced for the boom winches and swing out counterweight carriers. There are four separate weights supplied with the model, two for each swing out unit which slot into place. The boom is fully functional and can be raised/lowered by using the supplied winder. The hook can be lowered by turning the hook winch by inserting the winder into the slot on each end of the winch assembly once the counterweight holders have been swung out. Even a rubber sling and two plastic pipes have been provided for that extra little touch. |

The open engine compartment contains plenty of detail, including an etched front grill and fully reproduced engine block with radiator fan, oil filters, exhaust, electrical cabling and other associated detail inside the engine bay. The drive for the boom winches has been taken from the front of the engine and connects to the side mounted winch assembly via the driveshaft.

This is without doubt one of the most detailed models available for the price and is worthy of adding to any collection.
