Hutte HBR605 Crawler Drill RigHütte have been providing solutions to specialist drilling requirements for over 30 years and their experience and knowledge goes into each product to produce an effective drilling solution to the job at hand. The HRB605 drill rig is ideal for universal applications, weighing in around 16 ton and powered by a 200hp Deutz TDC2012 L06 2v diesel engine. Drilling options include a range of hydraulic hammers and double head rotary drill units with load sensing hydraulics, mounted to a crawler undercarriage for excellent mobility over rough ground. The 1:50th scale Hütte HBR605 from Ros is a small model and yet features a host of excellent detailing and functionality into its small frame. Considering the complexity of the various linkages and intricate nature, the assembly has been done pretty well using rivets to connect all the moving parts and the only thing that could have been improved is to paint over the rivet heads. The main chassis is connected to the track frames with hydraulics, allowing the tracks to be adjusted for uneven ground and this works well on the model and while the linked metal track pads do look a little bulky, it does not detract too much from the overall looks. All the controls needed to operate the machine have been accurately modelled, with a swinging arm housing the control modules with all the different levers and switches fitted. A safety grab rail runs along the upper edge and pressure gauges, complete with tiny printed markings have also been replicated. The drill mast is connected to the chassis with a rotating linkage powered by a pair of hydraulic cylinders to give a small angle of adjustment. The main arm allows the model to be posed in a transport position while also rising up into a working position. The hydraulics are not overly tight so adjustments can be easily made, including adjusting the height of the leader. Additional hydraulic cylinders control the short arm allowing angular positioning of the mast while it can also be rotated from vertical to almost horizontal, certainly a nice addition to the model and capturing many of the movements of the full sized rig.
The rear power module has a very good mixture of surface casting details and printed markings and highlighting, making it look particularly authentic and the addition of safety equipment, including a fire extinguisher shows the attention to detail that has gone into the development of the model. The HBR605 is available in three additional colour decorations, white, yellow and an exclusive orange version which is available direct from the Casagrande webshop. This is certainly a most welcome model in the foundation and drilling arena and has been implemented very convincingly. |
