MAN TGS 10x4 with HTM1204 Concrete Mixer Body
Presented here is the 1:50th scale HTM1204 concrete mixer body fitted to a MAN TGS 10x4 chassis, painted silver with dark grey trim and a yellow striped drum from Conrad. The HTM1204 has a capacity of 20.7 cubic metres and can be fitted to a 2-axle trailer or, as pictured here, mounted to a rigid truck chassis.
The mixer drum is all-metal with a plastic lip and this gives the model an impressively heavy feel. The drum rotates smoothly with a detailed hydraulic motor and water tank fixed to the frame. The guards on each side of the model house non-removable chute extensions while the main chute can be rotated to either side and is mounted to a pivoting arm which allows the chute to swing away from the drum opening.
The rear frame has an integrated observation platform with accurately scaled access ladder and safety railings. A protective bar is located at the rear of the chassis with light housings on each side, complete with painted lenses.
The underside of the model is reasonably well detailed with oscilating rear axles and partial drive train detailing all present. The independent steering axle has been nicely engineered, offering steering movement and the ability to raise and lock the axle off the ground which is a nice touch from Conrad.

The TGS cab interior is visible through the clear glazed windows and the cab can be tilted forward to reveal the engine block beneath. Typical of a Conrad model, self fit mirrors and a radio aerial need fitting to the holes in the cab frame. The 10x4 chassis is an interesting choice for the model and while not a typical sight here in the UK, the model certainly adds a little interest to the collection.
The paint finish is very good with crisp printing of the drum stripes. The HTM1204 mixer body is also available mounted to a 10x4 Mercedes Actros chassis and also a 2-axle trailer with a choice of MAN or Mercedes tractor units, all of which are exclusive to the Liebherr online shop.
