Hitachi Zaxis 38U Mini Tracked Excavator
Presented here is the 1:30th scale Hitachi Zaxis 38U short tail swing mini excavator which has been produced by Replicars. It is one of the new "Dash 5" series machines which set new standards for performance, comfort and maintenance. Ideally suited for earthmoving, utility and general construction duties, it offers reduced running costs and high levels of productivity. Weighing in at 3.8 ton, the machine is powered by a 28.4hp Yanmar 3-cylinder diesel engine.
The counterweight extends out from the body with recesses highlighting the fixing bolts and a hole where the exhaust gasses exit. The rear access panel has engraved detailing accented with a painted handle and lock which really does look good.

The upper carriage has 360 degree rotation with very crisply cast engine grills which are highlighted with black paint while the Hitachi markings are crisply tampo printed.
The range of movement is authentic with all the cylinders stiff enough to maintain the chosen pose. On the kingpost, the rivets have painted heads but they are left silver on the stick and bucket linkage. |

The king post can be adjusted in angle to about 40 degrees on each side of centre to simulate working in confined spaces or along the side of a building. The main boom hydraulic has a protective cover with pipe detailing engraved into the back of the boom where is meets with flexible hoese to the stick cylinder.

The cabin interior has been fully modelled with the light colours contrasting with the black floor and dark grey seat which has the Hitachi name printed across the seat. All the hand and foot controls have been added with a roof aerial and integrated grab rails added to the cab frame and a rear mounted safety mirror.
The undercarriage has a working dozer blade with rubber tracks that have a moulded tread pattern with engraved track frames and rotating idlers and drive sprockets.
The paint finish is top notch with an even coat allowing the surface engraving details to be seen while the tampo printed Hitachi markings and safety labels are accurately placed.
