Presented here is the 1:50th scale Shield Bantam C-35 in cable hoe configuration from Spec Cast. This is a small model which packs some good detailing and, while not as functional and detailed as the RB22's, there are some nice touches including the metal linked tracks and up to three winches inside the car body.

The boom and stick are both controlled by rope winches which offer a good range of movement. The stick casting incorporates the bucket and support bar as a single piece which is OK but would have looked more realistic if they were separate parts riveted or pinned in place.

The body casting is pretty good with panel detailing cast into the surfaces. One nice addition are the plastic plugs which are used to block the holes where the winches are operated and this is better than just leaving holes in the sides of the model and a compromise to having opening compartment doors.

The cab interior has been replicated with the large control handles visible through the clear windows. Black highlighting has been used to pick out the simulated rubber window seals and this adds to the detail level.

The undercarriage features authentic style, individually linked metal tracks and detailed track frames which add to the visual impact of the model. Spec Cast have done a good job capturing the essence of the Bantam C-35 in 1:50th scale and the hoe is one of three versions now available.
