Shield Bantam C-35 Dragline

Presented here is the Shield Bantam C-35 in dragline configuration from Spec Cast. The dragline is the first of three models of the C-35 demonstrating the various different roles the machine can perform when fitted with different front end equipment and all three versions have some good detailing including metal linked tracks and three functional winches inside the car body.

The body casting is pretty good with panel detailing cast into the surfaces. As with the other versions, the use of plastic plugs to block the holes where the winches are operated is a nice addition and better than just leaving holes in the sides of the model.

The boom is a single piece casting with crisp lattice construction. The main ropes holding the boom are connected to metal couplings which are then fixed to the boom tip with rope. This has been tied with knots and glued and does look a little poor and hurried although this is something that can be tidied up a little.

The drag bucket has some nice cast detailing including bottom structure, teeth and dimpled sides simulating the drainage holes found on the full sized bucket. Chains are used to connect the bucket to the lift and drag ropes and this functions well by operating the two winches

The cab interior has been replicated with the large control handles visible through the clear windows.

Black highlighting has been used to pick out the simulated rubber window seals and this adds to the detail level of the model.
