Hamm GRW280 Rubber Tired RollerThe Hamm GRW280 roller features an asymmetrical frame allowing an unhindered view of the outer wheels with a comfortable and ergonomically designed work place with a hydrostatic drive for precision control, powered by a powerful Deutz Tier III diesel engine and having the capacity to ballast up to 28 ton. Many of these details have been captured in the 1:50th scale replica presented here from NZG. Two versions of the GRW280 have been produced in 1:50th scale and I take a look at the open ROPs version. The structural ROPs frame has been captured well with accurately scaled metal grab rails fitted for easier access to the open platform. The optional plastic canopy is a nice addition to the model and holds in place with friction.
The model features plastic lenses for the work and brake lights which have been tinted red and look very authentic, integrated into the body casting which also features recessed points on the corners where lifting brackets have been replicated. The side panels have integrated access steps which have an upper textured anti-slip surface while large rear view mirrors have been fitted to the front of the chassis for added operator visibility. The paint finish is excellent with crisp printing of the Hamm and Wirtgen graphics and the GRW280 is a good addition to the Hamm model fleet. |
