Grove GMK3055 Mobile Crane

  This is the 2008 production run Grove GMK3055 mobile crane in 1:50th scale from TWH. The model is very similar to the first production run with the exception of the new style tilting cab. All the other features are identical to the previous release.

All the wheels can be steered independently of each other and have drive train details with four extending all metal stabiliser arms with screw threaded pads which can be rotated to lower into position. The all metal construction allows the model to be posed with it's wheels raised off the ground without any problems.

The front cab is hinged and can be tilted forward to reveal the engine compartment which houses a detailed Mercedes diesel engine, complete with Mercedes logos on the cylinder head which is a nice touch. The front of the cab also has a metal hoop that allows the hook to be placed in transport mode.

The brand new rear cab detailing is well done with a textured diamond plate finish, including grab rails, windscreen wipers and a fully detailed cab interior. Two large work lights are mounted to the cab front and the whole cab can be tilted by about 30 degrees.

The rear of the model features a one piece counterweight casting which has been done to make it look like the individual counterweight plates are seperate. Unfortunately, the counterweight is fixed in place and cannot be removed from the model.

The rear of the boom mount houses two winches and the hydraulic hose detail has been added to the hydraulic winch motors. The boom consists of  6 sections and is complemented with a two section lattice extension with hydraulic angle adjustment.
