MAN TGX XLX Tractor with Faymonville Telemax TrailerPresented here is the 1:50th scale Faymonville Telemax telescopically extending flat-bed, step-frame semi-trailer with MAN TGX tractor from Conrad. Painted in the Faymonville house colours, the model is surprisingly heavy with plenty of detailing, as expected from a Conrad model. The four axle chassis is simplistic and yet fully functional with a patterned deck with panel detailing visible along with small rectangular holes where the supplied metal rods can be inserted. The holes are a little large with some of the poles loose fitting but this can be fixed with a little blu-tack. The axles are each mounted to a pivoting arm which In turn connects to a rotating turn-table allowing all four axles to simulate the steering mechanism found on the full sized trailer. This works well achieving a good range of steering movement, powered by hydraulic cylinders connected to the rear most axle. The main trailer structure is composed of the telescopic beams which slide out smoothly and lock into position when fully extended. The maximum length of the trailer is impressive, measuring in at 930mm extended and 342mm retracted.
The trailer is supplied with a 3-axle MAN tractor finished in the same red colours. Self fit mirrors and radio aerials need fitting to the cab frame which is typical of a Conrad, as is the steering front axle with a very good degree of movement. The tyres have good tread pattern definition with red and silver hubs, covered with plastic guards which have fixing bar detailing and integrated light housings with tinted lenses. A large chromed fuel tank with integrated access steps and a diamond plate walkway are added, complete with safety grab rail for added realism. This is a great release and the first in a range of new Faymonville trailer replicas from Conrad. |
