John Deere 460E Articulated Dumptruck
Presented here is the John Deere 460E articulated dump truck in 1:50th scale
from ERTL. It is the latest articulated truck model in the Deere range and follows the successful 400D ADT and has similar features
including opening engine covers.
The model is very sturdy with a working articulating joint between the front and rear chassis frames with a tipping body which reaches a respectable dumping height using stiff hydraulics. The tyres have a very nicely moulded and authentic tread pattern with replicated plastic wheel hubs highlighting all the casting details.
|
The rear of the model has a modelled suspension and drive train from the articulated joint to the rear pair of axles.
|
The dump body has smooth interior and exterior surfaces with simulated mud guards for added realism.
|
Plastic steps are fitted to both sides of the front chassis giving access to the cabin which has a modelled interior and integrated rear view mirrors fitted to plastic railings that also have a weight guide system highlighted. The safety railings are plastic and a touch overscaled but don't look too bad.
|
The engine area takes up the full width of the chassis with a forward tilting bonnet revealing the centrally located engine block while on both sides of the engine bay are large radiators finished in silver. These can be seen better by opening the side engine panels which also have intricate printed grille and handle detailing.

The detail on the 460E is good
for a low cost model and is a great addition to
the John Deere model series. The paint finish is reasonable and the graphics are authentically placed.
