1:50th Scale John Deere 1110E Forwarder
This model of a John Deere 1110E forwarder follows from the 1270E harvester and shows again that Ertl can produce a fine model with plenty of detail when they want to. This is another example that shows Ertl have gone that little bit further with painted rivet heads, plenty of functionality and a good paint finish.

The articulating steering is limited but working with suspension on the front and rear axles allowing the model to be posed on an uneven surface, demonstrating the excellent manouverability of the real machine. The cab rotates and tilts allowing it to face almost any direction so the driver has an excellent view no matter which direction the machine is travelling in and this has been accurately captured on the model. The cab interior is fantastic with a large amount of clear glazing allowing the fully replicated interior to be clearly seen. |

The loading boom features a three stage telescopic stick allowing a good reach for the small, functional grapple. A nice addition is the simulated armoured hydraulic hoses which really add to the level of realism The rear chassis has plastic frame and pole sections which is a pity as the model would have looked much better with an all metal rear chassis. The tips of the support poles have been painted yellow which makes them stand out and match the wheel hubs which is a nice touch |

The front of the model features an opening engine cover which reveals the detailed engine block, cooling system and radiator within. The front dozer blade can be lowered and is stiff enough to allow the model to be posed with the front wheels raised off the ground.

The access ladder can be folded into the travel position or lowered to allow entry to the cab, just like on the full sized machine. |
The paint finish is excellent throughout with accurate placement of the John Deere logos, warning labels and safety messages on the boom sides.This is another good model release from Ertl and perfectly compliments the Deere 1270E Harvester. Interestingly, there are two different packaging options for the model as the US version also has a DVD included in the box where as this one, from a UK source is in a different box with no DVD.
