Custom Models - The Faun Kolloss Heavy Tow Truck

This is a 1:48th scale white metal kit of the Faun Kolloss heavy tow truck from ASAM Models. Assembly of the model is relatively straight forward, with most parts fitting well with each other. There was a little preparation of the parts needed but this is another kit with nicely detailed parts and good assembly instructions. I once again chose to solder all the parts together as this gives a much stronger bond. The picture below shows the sub assemblies after their first coat of paint. The colours of white and grey match my other heavy tow model kits that i have built and the finished model will have Alstom markings (I know they never had one of these in their livery but i want a fleet of models in the very distinctive Alstom livery)

The fully painted model has turned out much better than I anticipated.

The front of the model has detailed access ladders, front grill and mirror poles and side mounted air filters.

The exhaust stack fitted behind the cab has been enhanced with a piece of photo etched brass molded to the shape of the silencer for added realism.

The Alstom colour scheme really does look good and is a striking combination of grey and white colour with the blue adding contrast.

This was another fairly easy kit to prepare and build and has come out much better than I originally thought it would. It is shown below next to the Unipower truck.
