Scania T with drop-side trailer and Moffett Mounty

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Scania T 6x2 tractor with 3-axle drop-side trailer and Moffett Mounty forklift truck in the livery of Larkins Logistics Ltd from Corgi. The red and blue colour scheme, accented with chrome stands out and the added printing greatly adds to the realistic appearance of the model.

The detail on the model is very impressive, especially for Corgi who tend to feature more basic detailing with exceptional graphics and on this model, there are plenty of fine details including the self fit antennas on the roof and the grab rails on the lower edges of the bonnet.

The front bumper has integrated road and indicator lights with clear and tinted plastic lenses along with a front grill housing four large floodlights with blue tinted lenses. The access steps on both sides of the model have chromed insets with a textured anti slip pattern which looks great.

The roof sports two chromed air horns with two front facing flood lights with blue tinted lenses and integrated lights in the sun visor.

The graphic printing all around the cab is very crisply done, with intricate artwork on the side windows highlighted with silver text printed above the cab doors, across the sun visor and centrally on the rear panel of the cab with the Larkins name printed down the sides of the rear streamlining panel. The large opening bonnet, which remains in the opened position on it's own, reveals a moulded engine block at the heart of the engine compartment with an accurately replicated bulkhead.

The front axle does have working steering with chromed wheel hubs and rubber tyres which have an accurately moulded tread pattern. The rear of the tractor has a non-pivoting cast fifth wheel coupling with coiled service lines for added realism.

The trailer has fixed sides along three quarters of the length with the last quarter of the trailer open. The rear frame has a mounting bracket to house the Moffett Mounty forklift which has been accurately modelled.

Two resin cast loads are supplied with the model, each simulating a set of ten sand bags, complete with printed logos.

The driver's station of the Moffett has the controls modelled with a plastic ROPs and safety railings, complete with driver's seat. The plastic wheels rotate and have replicated tread pattern on them with the central wheel rotating to allow the fork lift to achieve on the spot turning.

The rear body of the Moffett has brake and indicator lights painted on with an accurate number plate and warning markings. The fork frame pivots forward but the forks themselves are fixed and do not function which is a shame, although I suspect this is so the Moffett stays connected to the trailer.
