Challenger MT875E TractorPresented here is the 1:32nd scale Challenger MT875E tractor from USK Scalemodels, a brand name from Mahler & Partners GmbH. The model is a very nicely detailed addition to the 8 series range joining the previously released MT865C version. The front of the model has a single piece ballast block fitted, complete with groove engraving details to simulate the many individual segments that make up the ballast. The main chassis frame is finished in a grey colour with raised surface detailing visible towards the front, complete with a light housing integrated into a plastic frame. The large exhaust stack rising up from the engine bay has a matt black finish which looks good and the paint finish on the engine cover is very nicely applied with crisp lines and highlighted light lenses.
The roof houses a TopCon satelite guidance system with two amber beacons while floodlights are integrated into the rear roof housing and safety grab rails run along the sides and rear of the roof with grab handles fitted to the cabin frame. The cabin interior has been accurately modelled with the main driver's seat and auxiliary seating added. The central console houses the main controls and steering wheel while the side mounted control panel is also present with replicated switched, levers and computer console, all viewed through the large glazed windows and side opening hinged door. Access to the cab is via a set of folding steps leading up to a walkway. Plastic safety railings have been added which are authentically scaled but are a little flexible so easily bend out of shape. The walkway has a textured upper surface simulating the anti-slip finish found on the full sized machine. The contours of the body panels have integrated brake, indicator and reversing lights which are tinted to look more realistic while silver finished platforms have been added to allow the operator to walk around the rear of the machine.
The undercarriage features large rubber tracks with a raised tread pattern moulded into the surface. The main wheels turn so the track can rotate but the lower set of rollers are fixed and do not rotate. There is some crisp detailing cast into the track frames with silver highlighting used to pick out the bolts on the main drive wheel. |
