Caterpillar Twenty Track-Type Tractor

Caterpillar Twenty

Norscot have recently released the latest 1:16th scale addition to the Caterpillar Historic model line in the form of the Cat Twenty track-type tractor. This model joins the Caterpillar Twenty-Two track-type tractor which was released back in 2006 and both models have been commissioned by ACMOC (Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club)

Caterpillar Twenty

The Caterpillar Twenty track-type tractor was first produced in 1927 and featured a four cylinder, overhead valve gasoline engine which could generate 24hp at the belt and 20hp at the drawbar. The heavy steel track frames had oscillating track rollers with drop-forged steel shoes and links with a cast, single piece front idler with spiral roller bearings. Power was transferred to the tracks by the heat treated, high carbon drive sprockets with independent, dry steering clutches.

The 1:16th scale model is a true replica of the full sized machine and has been produced from heavy die-cast metal. The tracks are fully functional with plenty of detail and the idler and drive sprockets rotate freely. The hinged engine panels on each side of the engine bay can be opened to reveal the reproduced engine block whilst the operator’s station has been authentically modelled with drive levers, pedals and realistic looking padded seat.

The model is rather heavy for its size and is mounted with four screws to a plastic display plinth with a clear plastic cover. The box has an open front and top allowing the model to be viewed with printed details on the sides, bottom and back of the packaging.
