Presented here is the 1:48th scale die-cast Caterpillar D9L "Pusher" which has been produced by CCM. The D9L configured as a pusher tractor utilises the same main chassis as the standard D9L with an inside mounted front blade with re-enforced central section for scraper pushing and a rear fitted push block, allowing several tractors to operate together when the going gets tough.

The D9L is the first of the 9 series to feature the elevated drive sprocket and this has been accurately replicated on the model with individually linked tracks and a tensioned idler wheel assembly. The track frames have good surface detailing and are fitted with movable lower rollers.

The main drive sprocket and final drive housing is very intricately finished, showing all the fine bolt head detailing while the track pads have raised bolt heads on each shoe.

The operator’s area of the pusher version features an open ROPs canopy allowing all the intricate detailing of the drivers station to be observed, from the central console with replicated dials and switches to the hand and foot controls, topped with a fire extinguisher and accurately scaled metal grab rails.

The rear of the tractor houses a sturdy frame mounted to the connection points normally used for the rear ripper assembly. This frame contains a hinged strike plate allowing several tractors to push each other for really tough jobsites.

The engine bay is open on both sides which allows the great detailing within to be seen including the low mounted engine block, air cleaner and exhaust stack.

The model is fitted with an intricately slotted photo-etch front grille, hoses and metal grab rails with dome shaped plastic lenses used for the main work lights.

The paint finish is applied to a high standard with accurate Caterpillar period markings throughout. It is pictured below behind the 631E motor scraper, another recent 1:48th scale release from CCM in a typical application to aid in loading the scraper bowl.
