Caterpillar D7E Dozer
The model features excellent levels of detail and realism throughout with the linked metal tracks having grouser and bolt detail on each pad with sprung loaded idler wheels. The tracks rotate smoothly and the track frames have some very nice cast detailing along with both drive and idler wheels having drive teeth. The rear of the model has a three shank ripper which can be lowered and all rivets have been painted over which makes the model so much more realistic. The ripper shanks are a little long so when fully raised, the tips are close to the ground.
The blade is fully functional with the ability to raise / lower and tilt although the tilt movement is a little limited. The arms have access steps fitted and the single hydraulic cylinder is stiff, allowing the blade to hold the position chosen. The Accu-Grade levelling system has been included on the model with the pole and domed unit centrally mounted to the bracket on the blade. This is glued in place and cannot be easily removed. The engine compartment has been cast well with panel and bold detailing all visible. The accurately scaled hand rails and fine printed grill pattern look very authentic with the single exhaust stack centrally mounted in the bonnet giving an excellent and unobstructed view of the work area on each side of the blade. The paint finish is very good on the model with the distinctive yellow and black colours and "Power Edge" markings printed on the sides and this is a must have model for any Caterpillar fan. |
