Caterpillar AD60 Underground Hauler

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Cat AD60 underground haul truck from Diecast Masters. The AD60, as well as having front, side and rear working lighting, has a plastic insert for the dump body to give the looks of a full load. This just rests in place and can easily be removed but again shows the interesting though decisions by Diecast Masters to include it.

Another rather impressive area on the model are the various safety railings which, while produced in plastic, are hinged to allow the top sections to fold down and reduce the height of the model. As well as folding, two of them are hinged on the side, acting as gates and this works very well.

The side of the engine housing is open revealing the internal engine block and a set of access steps are hinged, folding down to provide easy access for servicing.

The articulation joint in the chassis has a good range of steering movement with hoses and electrical wiring passing across along with the driveshaft.

The dump body uses multi-stage hydraulic lift rams which work and hold any chosen position, allowing the body to tip to a realistic angle. Fine detailing includes rear view mirrors and a red finished fire suppression canister.
