Case 580 Super R Series 2 Backhoe Loader

Presented here is the new Case 580 Super R backhoe loader model in 1:50th scale from Conrad. The model is an interesting change for Case who have previously released all their backhoe loader models in the larger 1:35th scale but I have to say these new 1:50th scale backhoe models are supperb and no details have been lost by changing to a smaller scale.

The rear of the model features a working sideshift and adjustable stabilisers. The backhoe boom is fully functional including a working extending stick, quick hitch and detailed bucket which can actually be removed. This level of details has not been seen on a 1:50th scale backhoe model before and the 580 Super R surpasses the BL71 and JCB 3CX models from Motorart.

The cab is highly detailed with all the operator controls visible through the clear windows. All working lights have been reproduced in the cab roof as on the real machine and while there are no grab rails or mirrors fitted to the model, I cannot say the ommissions detract in any way.

The front bucket on the model features the standard 4-in-1 bucket which can be opened. The steering is functional and just to finish off what is, in my opinion, one of the best backhoe models in 1:50th scale, the engine hood can be tilted open to reveal the detailed engine block.

The finish of the model is to Conrad's usually high standard with crisp markings on the loader arms, backhoe stick and on the cab glass. The weight of the model is considerable when compared to the JCB 3CX and Volvo BL71 models and it just feels better quality. Packaging is in the standard cardboard box with slide out foam wraparound to protect the model in transit. This is a must have model for any serious collector.
