Mercedes-Benz Actros 10x4 with Moser 2-Way Tipping Body

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Mercedes-Benz MP3 5-axle chassis with Moser 2-way tipping body decorated in the Senn-Brunnen company colours from Conrad. With a load capacity of 17 cubic metres (23 ton), the truck has a fully laden weight of 40t and is one of a number of vehicles in the Senn-Brunnen fleet. For further details, check out their website.

The tipping body can be configured to tip conventionally to the rear with a pivoting rear tailgate while another option is for the body to tip to the side, with small ball shaped bars connecting with the sockets on the underside of the tipping body allowing this to work flawlessly. In side tipping mode, the entire side panel folds down.

The main chassis is configured in 10x4 configuration with a central steering tag axle which can be raised off the ground. The front axles have linked steering with the rear-most pair of axles having suspension frame detailing with the axles floating to simulate working suspension. The wheel hubs are very nicely done with plenty of cast detailing and orange centres with authentically treaded rubber tyres.

Metal covers with a textured anti-slip diamond plate surface are fitted above the wheels with a fuel tank and air bottles fixed to the chassis. The main multi-stage tipping cylinder is mounted low down into the chassis and is stiff enough to allow the full range of tipping motion to be realised.

The cabin has good casting details including silvered access steps leading up to the cab and inset door handles. The rear exhaust stack has a photo-etched cooling jacket which looks good with an air filtering housing mounted to the opposite side. The cab has rear windows with a replicated interior including the contoured dashboard, steering wheel and seating.

The lower front grill has a fine textured surface with inset light housings integrated into the bumper, complete with clear grazed lenses. Self fit rear view mirrors and roof aerials need fitting into the holes in the cabin frame to finish off the aesthetics. The paint finish is very good, as expected with clear printing of the orange highlighting and Senn logos.
